IARIGAI 2008 Call for papers, deadline February 1

Advances in Printing and Media Technology

Under the above general title, the conference will accept for presentation and publication scientific or technical papers, presenting original and previously unpublished research, related to all aspects of the theory, practice, development and effects of technology in the media industries and graphic arts. For this conference, special attention will be given to contributions on environmental issues in the graphic arts and media industry; advances in materials and production methods; standardization; colour control; crossmedia publishing; and industry development. However, contributions are not limited only to these areas and all submissions related to the wider field of media and graphic arts will be considered.

First Call for Papers

Authors from iarigai member organizations, as well as from other research institutes, universities and industrial R&D are invited to submit results of their research for presentation at the conference. Only quality papers, not previously published or presented, will be considered. An extended abstract of 1200 to 1500 words (including 3-5 keywords) should be submitted not later than 1 February, 2008. The abstracts should be informative enough to allow for an evaluation of the scientific and/or technical value of the paper. Therefore, they should include clear statements on

                                The objectives of the research,
                                Research methods,
                                A summary of results,
                                Conclusions, clearly indicating the novelty of the paper.

All the abstracts received will be anonymously reviewed by two independent experts and accepted or rejected by the iarigai Program Committee. The authors of the abstracts will be informed of the results of the selection not later than 7 April, 2008. The authors of accepted papers will be requested to submit a full text by the end of June, 2008 for further publishing. Papers presented at the conference, if submitted on time and meeting general quality requirements for scientific publishing, will be published in Vol. XXXV of the

Dear Colleagues,
 
eChallenges e-2008 Conference & Exhibition takes place in Stockholm, Sweden 22 - 24 October. This is the eighteenth in a series of Annual Conferences supported by the European Commission, which regularly attracts over 650 delegates from leading commercial, government and research organisations around the world to share knowledge and experience, lessons learnt and good practice. eChallenges e-2007 attracted almost 680 delegates from 53 countries.
 
The International Programme Committee for e-2008 is now inviting extended abstracts (1,200 - 1,500 words) for technical papers, visionary papers, business and government case studies. eChallenges e-2008 will focus on Applied ICT research topics addressing major societal and economic challenges. The programme will combine strategic keynote presentations, technical and policy papers, case studies, workshops, an exhibition and social activities. The programme will showcase results from projects funded at national and regional level as well as those funded by European Commission Research Programmes.

The scientific programme for eChallenges e-2008 is based on an open Call for Papers and the conference language is English.
 
All abstracts (www.echallenges.org/e2008/default.asp?page=submission) must be submitted online by 29 February for double blind peer review by the International Programme Committee.
 
Papers should focus on a research or eAdoption topic on which a case study, initial or final results can be published. General project descriptions are not appropriate. All papers must highlight the level of innovation and actual or expected impact. 
 
Please bear in mind that the extended abstracts submitted are double blind peer reviewed so they should not provide contact details within the text of the extended abstract submitted. All extended abstracts are submitted as text via a form - tables and diagrams can be submitted as part of the full paper submission in April.
 
Extended abstracts should provide a good overview of your full paper and cover the following headings:
- Introduction - Issues to be addressed
- Objectives of your paper
- Methodology Used
- Technology or Business Case Description
- Conclusions and Summary Recommendations
 
Workshop proposals must also be registered by 29 February 2008 www.echallenges.org/e2008/default.asp?page=submission-ws   Each workshop proposal should be supported by a minimum of two papers per workshop session. Authors submit abstracts via Abstract Submission process, as these will be double blind peer reviewed by the IPC.

CfP: Projects and Project Management in Media Firms


Call for Papers

Projects and Project Management in Media Firms:
Theory, Methods, Processes, and Challenges

Papers are being sought for presentation at an international workshop
to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, 26-27 September 2008. The workshop is
sponsored by the Media Management and Transformation Centre at Jönköping
International Business School (Jönköping University), Europe*s premier
centre on media business issues.

The objective of the conference is to explore the theory, practice, and
challenges of project management in media firms. Projects in production
and product development are used in motion picture and television
programs, magazine and newspaper redesigns, as well as for the creation
and introduction of many other media products and services. 

Papers are solicited on issues including

* Challenges in project planning 
* Building and coordinating project teams
* Implementation and sequencing of projects
* Standardized and customized project processes
* Organizational structures for serial projects
* Networking for inter-organizational projects
* Capturing knowledge from projects for organizational benefit

At the workshop tracks will be organized by media industry sectors. A
special session will be dedicated to an open discussion between
practitioners and academics. Practitioners are invited to send a brief
description of a problem they would like to address in order to seek for
advice, or of a problem solution they have recently introduced in order
to share their knowledge and experience with the other participants.

Extended abstracts of papers (250 words) and descriptions of
practitioners* ideas are due February 1, 2008. Accepted proposals will
be notified by March 14, 2008. In the abstract, please specify the key
research question(s), the theoretical perspective, the empirical
support, and the expected scientific contribution of the paper.
Completed papers will be due August 15, 2008. Send abstracts and
